Silver Bella Press Kits

September 15, 2008

Hi Ladies!
THIS PROMO EVENT IS NOW CLOSED-Thanks everyone!
I have a sweet proposition for you! Some of you might be very interested in this. As many of you know, I’ll be going to Silver Bella this November to promote LolliShops! (psst…Mary Englebreit will be there!!)
I have been making inventory to have something to sell besides just promoting LolliShops and I had this great idea! I could bring some press kits from LolliShops vendors!!
That way, I’m representing Sadie Lou Who, LolliShops and YOU!
I’m going to limit this opportunity to just 50 vendors. So if you think you might be interested, here are the details:

Cost for shipping and handling: $10.00 (I have to mail all my booth decorations and inventory to the hotel in Omaha, Nebraska before the event)
Press Kit Guidelines/ Ideas
Promotional materials to represent your business–
* Business Cards
* Stickers
* A couple samples–this could be anything, ATC, Mini Collage, trial size, supply pack
* Photos of your work
* Mini Notebook
* Magnets
* Vintage Goodies
All of this should be packaged in cello baggies: Limit= 10 baggies per vendor

I will give these Press Kits away with purchases or to ladies who sign up with LolliShops. Your name will go out to 10 lucky people at Silver Bella without you even attending!
If you don’t have any promotional materials, one of our LolliShops vendors, Kitty Cross Bones makes promotional items at a very reasonable price and she has made some Press Kit listings on her website:
To secure your place as one of the 50 vendors, simply email me at lollishops@gmail
Then as soon as payment comes through, I’ll reserve your place. I’ll provide you with my PayPal email when you email me.
I think this is a great opportunity!

LolliShops & Gingerbread

September 2, 2008

I’m so excited to announce LolliShops’ very first Craft Challenge!
I’m giving everyone plenty of notice so that you can all find the time to participate.
Here are the yummy details: This is for LolliShops Vendors Only!
*UPDATE* There are a lot of questions and answers in the comments
I want everyone to make a faux Gingerbread House. No baking!
This challenge has quite a bit of opportunities and variations. You can use some real elements–like candy–but I want this creation to be decorative for the holidays because we’re going to save the houses for our LolliShops!
So if you use candy, it should be varnished or sealed (protected) in some way so that the house can be used year after year. Also, this creation should not be too large–I think it should stay within an 8 inch length and height.

You have plenty of time to get ideas and start gathering up supplies. I found a really great house form online and I am pleased to announce that the vendor was more than willing to offer a 15% discount to any LolliShops vendor for this challenge! She created a special listing in her shop just for you. I’m going to make a couple houses and I’ll be using this form for one of them:
Special Discounted House
If the special listing is sold, just contact the seller and she’ll put it back up for you.

You can blog some sneak peeks of your materials or the process–we’re going to save the actual reveal for a saved date (which I will announce as we get closer).
I will do a special post with all the participants and a link to the special Flickr Pool that I will set up for the event. **For those of you who were accepted LolliShops vendors and you don’t have a Flickr account, I really think it’s a great promotional & Networking tool. LolliShops will be using it a lot for various contests and challenges. It’s FREE!! I will also help anyone set up their account if that kind of thing makes you nervous.**

The winner will get a special (TBA) Holiday Themed package from LolliShops!
The rest of us can list the creations in our LolliShops when we open for business!
*excited*
Please use the comments for any suggestions or comments!

Vintage Treasures
Definition: We love Vintage and Antiques! In this category, you’ll find treasures for your home and studio as well as all those Vintage Supplies like Seam Binding, Glass Buttons, Trims, Millinery, etc. A wide variety of one-of-a-kind and hard-to-find!

An interview with Tiffany of Shabby Scraps Boutique

LolliShops asked…
“So many of us are mommies and wives and take care of our little families, when do you find the time for creating? Where do you go?”

Tiffany replied…

“Since I have two daughters age 9 and almost 13, finding time to create can be difficult. My favorite time to create is in the morning after everyone has left for the day. I quickly get my morning “household” duties accomplished, then I steal away upsatirs to my lovely craft room. I am lucky enought to have a space of my own, since we just built onto our house. When the children are out of school in the summer, like now, my time to create dwindles, but I still find snippets of time to make something. I leave my current projects out and at hand so I can work on them inbetween swimming lessons , laundry and playdates!”

LolliShops asked…
“I asked you to make a Flickr Mosaic of what is inspiring you right now: Can you tell us a little bit about where you draw your inspiration from? *Because I just love your jewelry!

Tiffany said…

“My inspiration really derives from two things : Texture and Color. I think these are the two most creative elements in a project. Of course I love anything that is vintage or has a vintage feel to it, so I try to incorporate that into whatever I am doing. I just love Flickr, because I am such a visually inspired person, I think photos are as much art as the artwork themselves!”

LolliShops asked…
“What are your three most favorite words? Not necessarily words you use the most but words that evoke something for you…”

Tiffany replied…

“serendipity, faith and shiggle. Since the first two are self explanitory, I think I need only explain the third. It is a combination of the words “shake” and “wiggle” and my daughter made it up at the age of four. We have used it in our vocabulary ever since, and everytime I do, I cannot help but laugh and smile, it is my happy word.”

LolliShops asked…
“What is your favorite room or corner in your house and why…

Tiffany answered…

“You would think my obvious answer would be my craft room, but it isn’t. Although I love that room dearly, I have to say my master bedroom is my favorite room in the house. Through a happy accident during construction, it ended up being double the size we planned with a lovely sitting room off of it, with french doors and a view of our garden. I have decorated it in soft creamy whites and have some of my favorite vintage treasures housed there, including Nadia, my dress form! My bed is a towering marshmallow of downy comforters, and I always feel calm and relaxed and comforted in that room. “

Finally, LolliShops asked…
“Lastly, what excites you the most about LolliShops (shameless promotion here on my part)…”

To which Tiffany gracefully replied…

“For me the most exciting part of Lollishops is the concept of uniting like minded sellers and individuals in a “frou frou friendly” atmosphere. The web can be huge (afterall, it isn’t called world wide for nothing!) and it can be very difficult to find things sometimes. You have to wade through page after page of things before you find what you were looking for. Having the Lollishops collaboration is like sitting down with your favorite magazine, each page you flip you know you will like what comes next.”

How sweet was this interview? I am looking forward to meeting Tiff at Silver Bella this year!
I think she is a perfect example of the wide range of creations, supplies and vintage that would fall under the category…

Romantic Inspirations:
Definition: Marked by expressions of love or affection; timeless. A particular influence of ephemera; of days gone by–a wistful approach to design that inspires a sense of “beauty with age”. Artists who claim specialty in this category will appeal to your emotions through their use of antiques, vintage elements and a Victorian color palate.

I just love the aged, timeless beauty of the creations that fall into the Romantic Inspirations category. As I was browsing the various images of creations, I felt like I was shopping in one store–the qualities of this particular category flow so seamlessly together. I can’t wait to browse this category on LolliShops!
~Sadie Lou

Definition: A tendency to indulge the senses in fancy; frivolity. The very example of froufrou and fuss! Delicate, velvety, rich or indulgent in it’s design. Artists who claim specialty in this category will appeal to those who enjoy the luster of imagination and the feeling of being lost in another time or place; an emphasis on a soft, feminine color palate.

So these are just a few creations I chose to represent the category of “Fanciful Creations”. I hope these little explanations are both useful and inspiring!
I think people are really going to enjoy browsing LolliShops by using these themed categories…

Category: Elegant Whimsy

August 7, 2008

I get a few questions once in awhile concerning the Shop Category menu on the application. My idea with the shop categories is to give LolliShops a special way to search for shops & items.
When we set up our shops, we will choose a category that best describes what we sell (you can pick something other than what you chose on your application if you changed your mind). However, each item you list will have a category for you to choose also! So even if you chose Elegant Whimsy for your whole shop, you can still choose Romantic Inspirations for one of your creations.
Pretty nifty.
Here are some examples of creations that fall under the Elegant Whimsy category:
